Map of Georgia
Objectives of the programme:
To enhance regional access to assistive technology for a broader population, including a wider array of essential products through primary healthcare, with significant effort directed towards procurement and financing initiatives to transform the current market.
Programme description: Georgia is part of the regional programme with a total investment of USD 3.2 million
Programme results:
| Georgia's National Assistive Product lists (APLs) has been created with WHO support. Specifications and standards were developed for – wheelchairs, hearing aids, prosthetics and orthotics, and white canes. | |
| ‘Georgia is strengthening its AT workforce through national workshops, inter-country learning exchanges, and by rolling out WHO’s Training in Assistive Products (TAP) for the health workforce at these PHCs for AT-strengthened service delivery. | |
| A regional advocacy campaign was implemented across five regions to strengthen inclusive health messaging through tailored communication materials and outreach. | |
| The national budget for AT has risen from 6.5 million GEL (USD 2.4 million) in 2023 to a projected 8.5 million GEL (USD 3 million) in 2025, marking a nearly 31 % increase over two years. To incentivize uptake and ensure quality service delivery, primary healthcare (PHC) providers now receive a 20 GEL consultation fee for each assistive technology (AT) user served – a first for the country. |
