Harnessing the power of assistive technology:  addressing the disability employment gap for persons with disabilities in low- and middle-income countries.

he first webinar in the series is on the topic Guidance for Market Entry in AT: Focus on select African countries scheduled on 27 May, 11:00 AM-12:00 PM (CET). The discussion will be structured as a cross-sectoral dialogue with representatives from the public and private sectors and NGOs on the challenges of market entry in the African AT sector, stories of success and the path forward.

Join us at the World Health Summit in Berlin, Germany, for a high-level, invitation-only strategic roundtable on assistive technology. The session entitled "Investing in assistive technology: an investment in our future" will take place on Sunday, 13 October 2024, from 16:00 to 17:30 CET in person at JW Marriott Hotel Berlin.

This high-level official side-event at the UN SUMMIT OF THE FUTURE ACTION DAYS  is co-hosted by the Government of the United States, the Government of Rwanda, ATscale, the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), the International Disability Alliance (IDA), Global Disability Innovation Hub (GDI Hub), UNOPS, and UNICEF.

This session, is co-hosted by African Union, ATscale and ILO. The session will try to understand the importance of assistive technology, explore the challenges of access to AT and find cross-sectoral approaches to address these challenges and learn about success stories.

It will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 11.30AM to 1.00 PM (GMT+3) at Nelson Mandela Hall, African Union Headquarters, Addis Ababa.

ATscale is delighted to announce that we will be hosting a virtual stakeholder workshop about  ATscale's upcoming programme for vision and hearing screening and the provision of eyeglasses and hearing to school-aged children in Jordan. The virtual workshop will be held on Monday 24 June, 3.30-5.00 pm (GMT 3.00).

ATscale was delighted to host an event with Devex alongside the World Economic Forum in Davos: Unlock the everyday: Advancing the SDGs through the power of assistive technology.

This event brought together political leaders, investors, and the private sector to explore innovative strategies for expanding access to assistive technology and unlocking the potential of millions around the globe.

On October 17th 2023 in Berlin, disability-inclusive health and assistive technology were put on the agenda of the World Health Summit for the very first time, in the session “Reimagining Universal Health Coverage to Leave No One Behind: Health Equity for Persons with Disabilities and Access to Assistive Technology as Key Drivers to Achieving UHC”.

Convening event exploring how AI Digital Assistive Technology (AT) can break barriers in low- and middle- income countries.

Hosted by ATscale and co-organized in partnership with UNICEF, this partnership event aims to shine a light on the relevance of assistive technology for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, on the sidelines of the SDG Summit during the United Nations General Assembly in New York. It will showcase the power of collective action and strong multi-sectoral and multi-stakeholder partnerships in achieving our shared ambition.

Raising awareness of the crucial role that assistive technology must play to advance disability rights to member states and organizations of persons with disabilities. 

The Ministry of Health formally launched its project with ATscale in Nairobi alongside its launch of the Rehabilitation and AT Strategy Plan, and Disability Guidelines.
