Advocating for change

Advocacy and communications that strengthen public awareness, political commitment and financial support have been central to ATscale’s work since its inception. ATscale continues to highlight the essential role of access to assistive technology in advancing inclusion, human rights, economic participation and progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.

ATscale works at the highest levels, while also acting as a global advocate, convenor and partnership builder to advance targeted policy and advocacy goals worldwide.

Key advocacy aims

Strengthen global awareness of assistive technology, building on early successes such as the Unlock The Everyday campaign.

Advocate for increased resources for the entire assistive technology sector through domestic financing and donor support.
Support national advocacy efforts, including building capacity.
Lead thematic campaigns to inform policy and support changes in priority intervention areas.

Strategic engagement in events

We collaborate with partners to plan meaningful engagement in events, co-create messages and communications, and plan and implement strategic advocacy initiatives.

World Day for Assistive Technology

World Day for Assistive Technology, launched on 4 June 2024, is now the annual awareness day for assistive technology and is a key moment every year. Working with assistive technology users, implementing partners, strategic partners and the private sector, ATscale supports events and advocacy through both national events and global digital media to build greater understanding of assistive technology.

Unlock the Everyday campaign

The campaign, Unlock the Everyday, is the first ever global campaign on assistive technology and aims to raise awareness of everyone’s right to assistive technology.

ATscale is working with a growing set of partners to build on the momentum generated by the campaign, focusing on an agreed set of themes to continue to build awareness.
