Objectives of the programme: To conduct the ATA-C in five provinces, develop a national assistive technology policy and update the national assistive technology strategic plan, develop a National Priority Assistive Products List (APL), integrate priority assistive technology in the national supply chains, establish a national assistive technology taskforce and identify public-private partnership (PPP) models for providing assistive technology.

Programme description: ATscale worked with CHAI to assess and improve the assistive technology landscape in the DRC. This included carrying out a capacity assessment, creating the National assistive technology taskforce, the drafting of a national assistive technology policy and strategic plan, and the development of the first national priority assistive products list.

Programme results:

With the support of ATscale partners, the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has ratified the National Assistive Product list (APL), which contains 32 products.
The national assistive technology Taskforce, created with the programme's support, has consolidated the national strategic plan and the national policy on assistive technology.
In 2023, with support of the Ministry of Health, CHAI conducted a capacity assessment (ATA-C) in nine provinces. The findings helped inform the priorities of the national policy and the national strategic plan on assistive technology.
