Information systems include data collection, analysis, reporting, knowledge management and governance. If effective, these systems improve outcomes for users of assistive technology and their families, inform research and innovation and influence policy.

A key challenge in financing assistive technology in low- and middle-income countries is the lack of adequate, predictable and stable public funds dedicated to national assistive technology programmes. Current public financial resources are limited and the fiscal space is expected to shrink further.

Lack of trained workforce is a large factor affecting access to assistive technology. The Global Report on assistive technology in 2022 found that globally only 1 in 10 countries had adequate and trained resources for any of the functional domains, and 14 per cent had no relevant training and education.

In 2024, ATscale marked a significant year of growth and impact, building on the momentum from previous years. As we continue to push forward with our mission, this year has been one of deepened collaborations, expanded partnerships, and further progress in key areas of assistive technology advocacy and investment. We are excited to report on our strides in scaling solutions for people with disabilities, strengthening the global public goods ecosystem, and accelerating country-level investments.

The 2024-2027 Strategy represents the beginning of the scale-up phase, in which ATscale is poised to expand its country and global footprint to deliver a wider and deeper impact over the next three years and beyond. Our 2024–2027 Strategy lays out how we will scale our country and global reach—deepening impact, strengthening systems, and amplifying the voices of AT users worldwide.

The Assistive Products Market Report 2025 provides an in-depth analysis of the demand landscape and supply chain costs within the assistive products sector. It details the significant market gaps, particularly in LMICs, where 65% to 95% of those needing products, such as wheelchairs, spectacles, hearing aids and prostheses, remain without access. The report identifies fragmented procurement, funding shortfalls, market and supply chain barriers, and policy gaps as key impediments to equitable access.
