Date: Wed, Apr 29, 2026 – Wed, Apr 29, 2026

Time: 10:00 – 11:00 (CET)

This April, in observance of the International Day in Memory of the Victims of Earthquakes, ATscale and UNDRR will host a webinar on ‘Inclusive Resilience: Leveraging Assistive’ to present the findings of the policy brief, ‘Leveraging Assistive Technology for Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Action

Disasters and climate change disproportionately impact persons with disabilities and others with functional limitations, largely due to barriers in accessing early warning systems, emergency services, and recovery programmes. Assistive technology, from mobility and hearing aids to communication tools and digital solutions, enables individuals to receive warnings, maintain mobility and independence, communicate during emergencies, and participate fully in preparedness, response, and recovery. Recognizing this gap, UNDRR and ATscale developed the policy brief ‘Leveraging Assistive Technology for Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Action’, launched at a side event during the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha on 5 November 2025.

Speakers will be drawn from a diverse range of stakeholders—including policymakers, disaster management agencies, climate practitioners, and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities—and the session will feature International Sign Language interpretation and live captioning in English, French, and Spanish to ensure full accessibility for all participants.
