Assessment, advocacy and collaborative planning for improved access to assistive technology

Map of Bangladesh

Objectives of the programme: To significantly advance assistive technology through comprehensive assessments, stakeholder engagement, fostering collaboration, integrating AT into national policies, prioritizing quality assurance and sharing knowledge, developing a national priority list for assistive products, and creating a cost-investment case.

Programme description: ATscale worked with Helen Keller International to improve the assistive technology landscape in Bangladesh. Data collection and analysis included an assistive technology Landscape Analysis, ATA-C, STARS and rATA. We formed a technical working group and made significant progress in shaping the AT Strategic Plan, and created recommendations for the priority assistive product list (APL).

Programme results:
With the support of ATscale partners, the government of Bangladesh has ratified the National Assistive Product list (APL).
A comprehensive costing analysis and investment case is being developed for key assistive products, which will be crucial for assessing financial needs for assistive technology, and informing budget allocations in the country
