The integration of assistive technology (AT) into national health and rehabilitation systems is critical for advancing disability inclusion and universal health coverage. This paper, co-authored by CHAI and ATscale, provides a comprehensive analysis of how to foster robust national-level government ownership of AT initiatives. Informed by collaborative efforts and field implementation in Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Uganda, and Zimbabwe, the document identifies core best practices in systems strengthening. It concludes with a set of actionable recommendations designed to equip policymakers and global health practitioners with the strategic frameworks necessary to enhance AT leadership and cross-sector coordination
